Welcome to contributing to the forum Richard. I think we can post anything we like providing it is civilised. Yes, this thread has little to do with France but sometimes surviving in France means realising how awful other places can be.
Hello Richard and welcome.
I think France has a big role to play in trying to stop this blatant genocide. For example;
And I think those of us living here have some small part to play in that. So itâs important people are kept informed.
It just gets worseâŚ
âBy any reasonable meansâ ---- I have two suggestions which may qualify.
- We should all take up our pens and write to our heads of state and political leaders to demand that our countries stop supplying arms to the protagonists. Yes, Israel has a right to self defence but not a right to commit genocide. Israel is not seeking to defeat its enemy in battle but rather to annihilate every last one of them because they know that although it is possible to defeat an army, it is not possible to defeat a people.
- We should all stop buying any goods of any and every description that either comes from Israel, or is manufactured in, or supplied by, Israel.
I try to live my life in peace and harmony and within the law. Human nature dictates that sometimes we donât like another persons character and exchanges become abrasive but calling will not hurt them however sticks and stones certainly do.
There are many opinions voiced on this thread and I feel sure that they like me shout at the TV when reports of the senseless slaughter of life continues in the middle east.
Now the vultures are hovering at a close distance watching and waiting. Disgusting.
Just to balance that Sky News clip this Youtube clip demonstrates the other side of the coin. I think taking sides in this disaster only makes matters worse. The focus MUST be on stopping the current atrocities and finding a way forward for everybody.
Of course both sides must be listened to Mik, but this guy represents no side, heâs not a journalist, heâs just been wandering around under his own steam âinterviewingâ people since circa 2010.
Rather than reject hm out of hand, which to my clinical eye, he deserves, Iâve wasted my time listening to several of his videos. I donât think heâs biased, but heâs in no way balanced, as a reputable news source should be. His amateur style would be harmless and maybe slightly informative, if a genocide wasnât happening. Heâs an unreliable source, just a Youtuber.
His history is and qualifications are also opaque.
Here is an extract from a Times of Israel article about him ten years ago;
âGil-Shuster and his translator filmed on his $180 Best Buy camera mainly in Ramallah while this summerâs fighting in Gaza was still ongoing.â
âMe and the translator walked down the street and he mainly picked people who looked like they were intelligent,â Gil-Shuster told The Times of Israel. âSometimes I asked people. We mainly asked people who look like they have two minutes to answer a question.â

It is mentioned in the Youtube fan site () above that he is âHe is the director of the international M.A. in Conflict Resolution and Mediation since 2014â but I havenât found him on their website.
I am particularly surprised Mik that yesterday you commented that it was good to have views from an expert, the CEO of Ford, on the EV industry, a good point, and then you post some rank amateurâs videos on the far more important issue of genocide and the slaughter of 15,000 children (and counting).
Of course there are two sides, but one side is murdering the other wholesale with tanks, artillery and F15s, F35s and 2000lbs JDAM bombs, deliberately targeting hospitals, journalists, aid workers and medics. Starving whole sections of Gaza. The IDF is no better than the Waffen SS was and the world is standing by and watching it happen, while Ben-Givr sings and dances.
I understand your passion for this subject John. My example and the Sky News clip illustrate what I see as obstruction to progress.
Israel is having bombs and rockets thrown at it from Hamas in the West, Hezbollah in the North, Houthis from the South and Iran from the East. Do they not expect any retaliation from an overwhelmingly superior armed Israel?
Arguments about who started what and whether it happened a year or 10 years or 100 years or even 1000 year ago are not productive. Taking sides in this dispute, in my opinion, only makes the situation more difficult to resolve.
If a way to stop the atrocities and commence talks about finding common ground cannot be found, then it will simply be the survival of the fittest and we are already seeing what that means in practice.
Exactly.
You make it sound as if Israel is on the defensive and thus retaliating. The whole bloody (not swearing, descriptive) point is that all those things you mention are the retaliation. The retaliation of over 70 years of land stolen, families murdered, driven off, houses bulldozed, crops ruined, animals removed and goodness knows whatever other crimes you can think of. The only difference between these criminals and the Nazi regime that did its best to eliminate them, is that the Zionists havenât constructed gas chambers. The racism of both regimes was/is clear to see however.
While I do appreciate the âwe are where we areâ argument Mik, as far as I can see Hamas is calling for a ceasefire, and has been for months, Hezbollah is calling for a ceasefire and has offered one for months if one was agreed in Gaza, Iran didnât and doesnât want any escalation and the Houthis will do what Iran tells them to do.
Not withstanding the inhuman savages that exist(ed) on the other side (heaven forbid that I would ever defend Hamas, Hezbollah or Iran), there is IMO only one murderous, genocidal, fanatical bunch of killers keeping this shit show on the road, the Israeli far right, and each of their blood soaked âsuccessesâ only encourages them to commit worse atrocities against the untermenschen Arabs.
They see it as their time to ârearrangeâ the M/E and take their God given rightful place there. It is their âfinal solutionâ moment.
I appreciate the way you responded to my post. There is, of course, nothing personal in this.
Indeed, the Nazis tried to do it sneakily, out of sight. Israel is doing it in plain sight and still the âcivilisedâ world is doing nothing, in fact the West is giving them the tools to do it.
That struck a chord with me when Padraic (the Channel 4 Irish journalist) asked 2 people who were amongst the group of ghouls waiting to empty Gaza of its people. The fact that both bore German surnames made me wonder if they took their views from their Grandparents or Great Grandparents and turned them around. How can they not see the parallels?
That was a very good segment, I think Paraic OâBrien is a great journalist. I was surprised he had such good access, even to Ben-Givr. I think these people do believe that have God on their side.
More Israeli and IDF lies in their continuing programme of hospital destruction.
Like Paraic, sheâs good, what is it with the Oirish?
But while I am giving out bouquets, what about Lindsey Hilsum? Brilliant.
BTW to save me going to the joke thread I saw an American documentary yesterday where the man pronounced Reginald Bosanquet as Boosahnqway. Trying too hard and nobody to tell him, bless.
I love her. Whenever shit happens, courageous, articulate and balanced Lindsey pops up.
To be honest if anything about the middle east comes up on TV now, I switch stations.
I donât do that, but if someone comes on, avoiding the questions put to them and instead starts the old anti-semite crap, or talks about terrorists, hostages and prisoners instead of hostages and hostages, then I do mute it but leave subtitles on.
And Lise Doucette.
