I beg your pardon - it was apparently last week  The clean up has started and all is well I hear..!

Oh dear.

@Franglais … tu connais le mot “vanne”?

Sounds like you might be trolling.

At risk of falling into the wormhole, it’s VERY important to understand that it’s no use being pro Palestine or pro Israel. Both people groups need to live in peace and have the right to freedom and the pursuit of happiness. It’s easy - attractive even - to hate the ‘baddies’ and want to see them punished, but this view is shallow, thoughtless and can only bring more suffering. There MUST be a solution, though it’s unlikely to be mutually acceptable to both sides or possibly to any of them, but it must be found and enforced. Anything else will only perpetuate the cycle of killing and revenge.

I used to live in Nottingham when it was known as Shottingham. There weren’t any no-go areas then as the RWP said there was, although there was an area Bestwood where a bent copper gave the local (white English) hoods the nod if any raids were due. There’s a book on it which reveals all.

In general, the right wing invent most of this to justify their hate programme of stoking things up wherever possible.

There was a policeman shot in the foot there recently, but this was in the town centre which is highly surveilled. The biggest danger is tripping over lying drunks, or used to be anyway.

Well that is fair but i was responding to a question about UK police and how they treat protestors for holding a placard calling for an end to the genocide. It is part of a wider discussion about police brutality and the endorsement of law and order. Always considered the UK a fair country in terms of free expression but since Israels actions in Gaza that freedom of speech and our rights to condemn Israeli actions has seem a rapid deterioation of our rights. That i find beyond disturbing.

@INGRID1 do you have any interest in France?

The reason I ask is that, so far, you’ve done nothing but bang on about Gaza.

Just a mention that this forum is about France, Ingrid.

Do you understand WTF?

Indeed. We were discussing right wing governments use of force. I argued its not inly right wing governments citing UK police towards Palestine Action.

Actually I think we were discussing Marine Le Pen, as per the thread title.

Actually it was about real contenders for hext president which led into a discussion about law and order. Anyways seems the discussion has come to an end, and rudeness has taken over. Cheets

Cheets to you, have a good evening.

@INGRID1 , I confess I was taken aback by your apparent ignorance of British law and the detour you took towards Gaza (which has already been more than amply covered here).

But I’m sure we’d all welcome any contributions you’d like to make about surviving France!

Is it to do with someone with an inadequate vocabulary?

Or someone who is avoiding answering a question?

You suggested that in the UK the Police have no-go areas. Care to address the issue you raised?

If it speeds things up your vocabulary, grammar and general wit are far, far, superior to mine, so you can score those points if you want to.

@Franglais , I hadn’t realised I’d been so subtle.

Certain American politicians and car salesmen have suggested (the “apparently” in my comment) that there are police no-go areas in the UK.

It’s no more true than the idea that you can be arrested for carrying a placard.

In America, “carrying” has another, more specific meaning, describing a practice most of the civilised world deplores.

Will That Flesh it out?

(It’s blooming difficult, inserting asterisks on a phone. I hope you appreciate the effort I made.)

So do you live in France INGRID1? Have you been here long?

According to the City of London police you can.

City of London Police said a 22-year-old woman was arrested, and later bailed, for displaying a placard in support of a proscribed organisation, in this case Palestine Action, contrary to Section 13 of the Terrorism Act 2000.
