No point in having a mind if you do not ever change it.
Express: Covid leaves âvaccine scepticâ man, 34, fighting for his life in hospital.
Whilst we all feel that we are having our dinner party discussion here on SF, actually it is being broadcast to the world via Facebook.
This misinformation, nay lies, is being promulgated to who knows how many people. Cat will probably have the number of folk who watch SF via Facebook.
I think we have to ask ourselves are we being used as a backdoor to Helenâs anti-vax views being made available to a wider audience.
A quarter of the worldâs population has now had one dose of one the vaccines. You donât seriously believe they all qualify as âguinea pigsâ?
Toxins? If there are dangerous toxins in the vaccine who are the big conspirators and how on earth are they managing to fool 99% of the worldâs doctors, virologists, epidemiologists etc?
Have a think about what youâre writing, Linda, and youâll probably realise that youâve been duped into posting nonsense like this on a public forum.
I believe you will realise that you believe nonsense eventually. But perhaps here isnât the place and now isnât the time.
Maybe we should change the subject?
I come back to what I said previously, the title of the thread is about benefits of vaccination but unfortunately itâs become overrun with anything but. I know weâre not as strict on SF as some other forums about keeping threads on topic and flagging and removing off topic content (and I personally think SF is all the better for not taking a hard line) but it would be good for those with more in-depth knowledge than I have around this area to keep us up to date on some of the incredible benefits of vaccination to remind and confirm (if it were needed) why it is the right course of action.
Perhaps someone of an anti vaccine persuasion should open a new thread âŚ
Then the appropriate threads need to be moderated.
I do think the posts above read as a good rebuttal of vaccine scepticism though. After a certain point it does beg the question whether it is worth engaging as questions go unanswered. It is a bit like trying to debate with a deeply religious person.
On a different note just had the second jab. Looking forward to a celebratory restaurant trip!
Could well be Jane, There is a simple solution.
The famous attestation

I the above named person, believe the covid vaccine dangerous and my human rights are being infringed.
It is my right to refuse all vaccines and should I contract covid or any of its variants, I will decline all medical help by the health services as I may infect someone else who could become very ill or die through my single minded decision.
I agree John, this is my concern about the anti-vax brigade. If all they were doing was killing themselves, so be it. Itâs like smoking - by all means kill yourself if thatâs how you want to behave, BUT the moment your behaviour impacts on others (as anti-vax does) THEN we are into a wider societal issue that justifies controls being put in place. (as has been with smoking and as is beginning to happen here in France with vaccination).
No toxins in the vaccines but if you drink any alcohol you"ll be a hypocrite.
Dont get me started on processed foodâŚ
These are people who refuse to accept the science. They are in the same category as Flat Earthers and Creationists.
They should be wearing your Attestation round their necks so that we can avoid them.
Thatâs a bit extreme Jane!
Actually, I did think of ringing a bell and shouting unvaccinated, unvaccinated, but thought that was a bit extreme!
Argh Jane as a small child (5 or 6) I used to play at the black death and being a mediaeval leper (not simultaneously) and had a bell for ringing along with shouting bring out your dead and unclean! Unclean! While getting a sandwich though the scullery window (leperâs hole, there was a splendid one in my local ruined cathdral, very Gothic novelish). Also red chalk for marking doors. Oh goodness what a weirdo I was.
Was?
One of my biggest gripes about âanti-vaxxersâ is that if they catch Covid and suffer badly they will expect the health service to treat them.
Although this is specifically about the US first amendment, I think it nearly sums up what being silenced is really all about
Well something must have caught your imagination.
We were all taught about the Black Death at school, perhaps you had an older sibling who was taught that and you picked it up from them?
I donât think itâs odd.
Not odd at allâŚ
Itâs caught everyoneâs imagination, I reckon⌠and I think thereâs even a sketch in Black Adder where someone (Baldrick perhaps) is clanging the âuncleanâ bellâŚ
