The Queen's Jubilee - A Time To Celebrate?

Yes…. Because not being able to use social media would definitely not be worth it, even with all the palaces, diamonds and butlers. I’d be so upset not to have Mark Zuckerberg and Elon Musk being able publish and monetise every idiotic thing I say, who needs wealth and power, I need to be able to post photos of my cooking on the internet…

Sounds like she’s got it even better than I thought :joy:

I am not a royalist or a supporter or a god worshiper. I do however respect the long service and hard work people of any situation put in so please stick your sweeping generalisations

Thanks Stella. Among all the photos I’ve come across I haven’t seen one where Camilla is smiling.

Aren’t we lucky that no-one scrutinizes our photos… I always look ghastly in mine and hate having a camera pointed at me.

Ah, but they learn to keep at least a mellow look - in most of them she looks positively thunderous. My money is on a good family row.
Mind you, the Queen can look pretty scary on occasions. Loved her with Paddington.

We had a lovely viewpoint for the stage in front of the Palace.

What? Someone dares to have a different opinion to you? “Stick” is a difficult word to use by its self. Perhaps you have the nerve to say what you mean?

Say it loud and say it clear. The monarch has a soft life that any one would envy. The supporters of it decive themselves and attempt to deceive others. Give her her clock and let her go.

I look terrible in photographs but alas in real life as well, I also think that sometimes photographs do catch us at the moment where our face says give me the dagger I’ll unseam him from the nave to the chaps* but we’re actually thinking about whether we put the milk back in the fridge or unlocked the catflap…

Oooops

Oh Graham, you are funny. How long did it take you to find that negative story? The events of the last few days have been beautifully executed and most people would be hard pressed to find a negative…but you have! Well done!

Especially as it was a rap song??? And thats really just vebal diarrhea. Some may say poetry.

Now that it’s over I think there will be a period of analysis/discussion on the role and meaningfulness of the monarchy going forward with the accession of Charles looming large. Clearly, there is a growing indifference to the royal family as many people didn’t participate or even watch any of the events on tv so I wonder whether we’ll see a gradual move to view them more as a ‘decoration’ rather than an importance as with other other monarchies in Europe.

Thread muted.

That’s a disappointing response Corona as I was just trying to move the conversation on from the celebratory to the future. IMO the Jubilee was a way of saying ‘thank you’ to the Queen for her service and dedication but as with all national events there will be a ‘debriefing’ afterwards and I doubt there will another Jubilee for many decades if at all.
