The refugee "problem"

The one that did it for me was rum and coke. That made me fighting drunk!
Good luck Gillian.

Thank you very much for posting again. And don’t worry, I don’t think there is a single member ( me included!!) who hasn’t said something online at some point and then thought ‘oops’… and often wine induced too!

Moving is super stressful so I am keeping everything crossed for you and hoping that it all goes smoothly.

See alain parison tweet about the petite reunion familial in Paris @ParisonAlain then maybe you will understand

Now we know why 000’s are leaving France in dinghies -

This is worth a watch .

Unfortunately this is the rare occasion where Patel might have a point, though, in her usual way, she makes it with all the subtlety of a hand grenade.

See e.g. this ECHR judgement.

N.H. and others v. France: Inhuman and degrading living conditions of homeless asylum-seekers without any means of subsistence: violation of Convention

that’s a right mixed bag of details/info isn’t it… one chap had already applied in Denmark hence he was refused here… and from then on, there is one confusion after another. One chap was finally seeking help to return to his country because of the delays… what a rum do…

However, I have more faith in French than UK… for just about everything at the moment…

I think it is a lot easier to get a job under the radar, even if it’s paid 50p an hour in the UK, and that is a big incentive. And there are no laws governing what you call yourself, no état civil, much less general admin and officialdom, more acceptance of whole allophone communities and their customs - so I bet that also encourages people.

Thank you so much for being so kind…I did worry about posting again. We first came to France 12 months ago and it has been really hard. This is our third house (that we’ve offered on) but definitely our favourite, but who could have predicted what we would have had to go through…that said, I am not, and never will be, foreign to what everybody else has to go through. It has been a terrible time for all and we all have to stick together. Thanks Cat Xx
