When @John_Scully began this thread, would anyone have thought the war Russia launched in Ukraine would still be so violent and bloody?
I heard Andrew Marr today and wondered if others may want to listen
Russia is surely counting on western support for Ukraine petering out. Meanwhile, an ever dwindling but valiant corp of soldiers are every day losing their limbs and lives. So many families destroyed.

It is and we are doing exactly the right thing in spending money to support them. If only we had done that at the start of 2 world wars in support of Belgium and Poland instead of immediately getting involved at much greater cost in lives and treasure.
And, in the case of Poland, it wasn’t even liberated after all that effort.

Thinking back to the tension when weapons landed in eastern Poland. Now Putin is raising the risk of a skirmish with NATO by using Iranian drones to attack Danube ports to deter shipping. Madness

He was flying with the Wagner “high command” , a wonderful target, and it appears Russian air defence took the plane out.

There will still be a lot of not so high commanders, I just wonder what (standing) orders they’d been given in the quite likely case of their assassination. Any money on another coup attempt?
I think China maybe screwed too. There’s an avalanche of negitive economic comment (from non shitty sources). Nothing to rejoice about
