News just now saying many homes without electricity across north east and people in finistere are being told to stay at home.

Here in 24 last night it was so still the fire struggled to draw. Still warm but very wet and only had fire in to dry washing.
A windless night and sun breaking through this morning and still no wind.
Don’t know what all the fuss is about.

Well that was an “interesting” night. When we finally gave up on sleep we got up to discover, to our great surprise, that we still had electricity 
No serious damage that we’ve found so far (we’re not venturing outside to look) and Manche (50) is now the only department still on a red warning. Lucky lucky us…

I watched the atmospheric pressure on my weather station plummet last night, it dropped to about 950mb very quickly ( weather bomb). Disturbed nights sleep and not been outside just yet, and although it seems to have eased off a bit its still very windy

Annabel the aide has just left, she lives 4 kms away in the larger village and she definitely had a violent storm last night. She was amazed that my unlatched west facing bedroom windows didn’t even blow open.

I had 30 years of being right on coastal Finistère so know how bad it can get and without warning. All night I wondered if the big trees in my old garden were still OK and whether the new owners had lost any slates or not. You can’t switch off from owning something for that long and not worrying about how it is faring. We havn’t had as much as a puff down here, but I would never take it for granted that something nasty isn’t just around the corner and soon the tramontine will start to blow again for days on end.

Yes, our red warning stopped just after 10 and we’re now on orange. Definitely a relief. The orange for wind is due to move to yellow mid-afternoon for us so I may venture out to the shops!

Even though it was blowing hoolie last night, trees are still standing. Lost power at 11pm but that came back at 7.30am . 16 North Carente.

This area was scheduled for a Tsunami alerte today but it was cancelled last night. Possibly worries still about La Gomera and that huge rock that has threatened us for years or seismic activity increasing in the Med.
Anyone want some hail ? It’s quite dense around here…

There’s just so much debris on the roads, mud and slurry too… more wild winds are expected…
take a deep breath and make your choice…

Well I went! Fortunately, otherpeople had been before me so the enormous amount of debris had already been pushed to the side of the roads. It wasn’t all that far but there had clearly been damage…

Have you still got electricity? Several friends in Calvados & Manche Normandy have been without power now for 14 hours, I think it’s same for us near Carentan, our cameras have been off since the middle of the night, only hope we still have a roof.

We had a brief outage last night, but no cuts since. I went into Sourdeval earlier to get a few bits to make repairs, half the town is still without electricity including the fuel station and the little (maison.fr) brico shed
