Why does the Royal family need so much money?

oh yes I remember…thank you.

I have to ask, how many charities were there in the days of Queenie’s ancestors?

Very valid question.
This is tax deductible.
But I will say…another 10% taken from extremely
wealthy people would make the world of difference to many truly
poor people and the rich people would still be able to by jewel studed
watches, handbags which cost thousands, property all over the world and
parties costing the earth.
Of course I am only dreaming or hoping.

Barbara, you’re becoming obsessed with the notion that just taking from the ‘rich’ will solve so much, it’s just not as simple as that. First off, who do you define as ‘rich’? Second, how would you do it, increase taxes? Third, how would you distribute this instant pile of cash, who do you define as ‘poor’?

Good points…but anything is possible with the right people in power and good administration.
How did we arrive at the systems, laws and regulations we have now?
They were devised…just like sorting out the mess would be devised.
Not impossible ,but we put up an impregnable barrier.
What is poor is not having enough income to buy food, heat a home and have all the ESSENTIALS.
Being genuinely too ill to work to achieve this situation of basic comfort.
Poor is not being able to die with dignity in a place where care workers are actually human
and not robotic or unkind.
It is easy enough for tax collectors to assess who is rich.
That seems to be part of their job.
Have you not noticed the TV ads which break your heart urging you to pay 5 pounds to save a child. Most of the time the call is to those who are just about managing,

My only obsession is to survive and to see others managing to do the same.

Am I to understand that “the rich” do not watch TV, let alone the adverts?

Maybe they do not…actually.Especially not the adverts.
Unless they are watching themselves on TV.
Nothing wrong with being rich Stella but how many times do we here
of them looking and finding tax havens in order not to pay taxes.
Is that right…I mean is it good.
Is it patriotic?

How do we decide what the essentials are?

What is the threshold for being classed as rich, how much cash do you need to have to be rich?

Maybe some of their generosity could be used here…?

Martin

I could work that one out…could you not…
essentials…Do you need me to list them.
I am sure that most of us will know, intelligently
all which is needed for living a life in a civilised
country.

I really don’t see the problem here, at least it keeps the issue of the growing number of homeless people in the public conscientiousness.

Iphone contract, Sky contract, fags, holidays to Ibiza etc etc.:grinning:

oh Timmy No…
Benidorm and Prosecco.
But being aware of something should be doing something positive about it.
Are the wedding planners worried that the RIF RAF may try to crash the party?

“No problem here”, we got rid of all the homeless (another council’s problem). I guess it’s one way to raise awareness. Thanks Royal Wedding… :frowning:

Martin

Depends on how the council get rid of the homeless…
what a nice way to address people!!!

This does not look or sound good.
But, perhaps some of you do think that it is ok.?
Help people who are destitute…or, at least try…
I do not believe that they should be antagonised or
brushed away like an unwanted article.

As with many things in life Barbara, homelessness is a complicated issue. A huge number of rough sleepers have mental or drug problems (or both) and the cost of trying to deal with this is massive, councils simply don’t have the money, I’m also sorry to say many people can’t be helped. The case of the guy this week who was initially thought of as a hero after the Manchester bombing highlights the sad fact that no matter how much money you throw at an issue you’re not going to completely solve it.

Yes I really do understand this.
I really do but we are talking about
saving lives…often young ones and we must
or lets say UK must save lives.
The attitude of just kicking these people
out or Windsor for the Royal wedding is not only sad but
disgusting.
I have never been addicted to drugs or alcohol but I can realise
the devastation, the feeling inside which drives people to the bottom
and into despair…and this is the bottom.
So what will be the end result…

There are tens of thousands of drug addicts in the UK, a quarter of the prison population are addicts and all this costs the country billions at a time when NHS and social services budgets are falling. At some point people will have to take personal responsibility for what they do rather than expect the government to help all the time.

It goes deeper than that I think,
Suppose survival of the fittest.
But just because important people are celebrating does
that mean that these people should be eradicated and
humiliated.
Have they not had a taste of hell why should they be treated
badly?
